How to Make Chilly Churn Ice Cream

Using an ice cream machine
with a freezer bowl

  1. Place 1¾ cups of whole milk and 1¼ cups heavy cream in a bowl.
  2. Slowly add 6 oz of Chilly Churn™ Ice Cream Mix while stirring with a wire whisk until fully dissolved.
  3. Add liquid mixture to the frozen bowl and freeze according to manufacturer’s instructions. Enjoy once frozen or place in a freezer-safe container to store for later.

Follow the manufacturer’s directions when using equipment to make Chilly Churn™ Ice Cream Mix.

Remember to freeze the freezer bowl of the ice cream maker for at least 24 hours before you plan to make ice cream. If it is not cold enough, your ice cream won’t freeze. If you remove the bowl from the freezer and you hear liquid sloshing, it isn’t ready to use.

Start the ice cream maker before adding the mixture to the bowl; it will freeze more effectively if you pour the mixture into the running machine.

If you are using a traditional ice-filled maker, don’t skimp on the salt. The salt lowers the temperature of the ice as it melts, and too little salt will prevent you from hitting the temperatures you need to freeze.

Additional Tips

  • To make a firm ice cream, freeze for at least two hours after churning. Transfer the ice cream to a freezer-safe container and place sealed in the coldest part of the freezer.
  • Don’t overmix the milk and cream. Mixing puts air into the blend and promotes a creamy texture. Overmixing can create an undesirable texture.
